Equality Objectives
At Hillside Primary School we recognise that the public sector equality duty has three aims and they are to:
- eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct under the Act;
- advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not;
- foster good relations between people who have a shared characteristic and those who do not.
We are committed to ensuring equality of education and opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents and carers, irrespective of race, gender, disability, belief, religion or socioeconomic background.
In order to further support students, raise standards and ensure inclusive teaching, we have set ourselves the following Equality Objectives:-
Objective 1: To increase the attendance of the Roma community and SEND support group because their attendance is too low and impacting on progress and life chances.
Objective 2: To narrow the gap between disadvantaged students and their peers within all their subjects and provide a curriculum that is accessible to all.
Objective 3: To promote and enhance good relations within the school and wider community.
