Intent: We enable children to be independent and confident users of computing technology so that they become responsible, digitally literate citizens.
At Hillside Primary School we believe in providing a computing education that encourages pupils to be logical and creative thinkers in order to explore and problem solve across a variety of computer technologies and applications - to not just consume content, but to be creators as well.
The computing curriculum seeks to develop skills in a sequential way from Reception to Year 6 through the progressive building upon of understanding in the three strands of computing: Information Technology, Computer Science and Digital Literacy. Pupils are given the opportunity to develop familiarity with a range of computer applications and skills that give them a robust set of tools to use not just in computing, but across the whole primary curriculum.
Outside of computing lessons, pupils have the opportunity to continue their exploration and foster their enthusiasm for this subject through after school and lunch time clubs where they will be able to access the wide range of school computing resources available to them.
